AARON JONES

NFL RUNNING BACK

Aaron Jones is a running back for the Green Bay Packers. The son of two sergeants major in the US Army, Aaron spent time in the Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Nurnberg areas before attending high school in El Paso, Texas.

ADRIAN MURRELL (1970-   )  

Adrian Murrell’s father, Angelo, was an Army Command Sergeant Major. The former Overseas Brat played collegiate football for West Virginia . In 1993, he was drafted by the New York Jets where he played until 1998. He later played for the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, and Dallas Cowboys. He retired in 2003.

ALEJANDRO VILLANUEVA

Alejandro Villanueva Martínez is an American football offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Villanueva was a captain in the United States Army, in which he served as an Army Ranger and was decorated with a Bronze Star for valor.  He is a graduate of the Unites States Military Academy and SHAPE High School.

ALLAN KEYES

INDEPENDENT PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE 1996 & 2000

Allan Keyes is a military brat. His father was a US  Army Sergeant. Born in New York, New York on August 7, 1950, he is a 1968 graduate of Robert G. Cole High School at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He was President of his Senior Class.

He is recognized as a leader in the Conservative movement. He has served our country in a variety of ways: U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Social and Economic Council and as Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations.

ALLISON WAGNER (1977- )

OLYMPIC MEDALIST, SWIMMER

Allison Wager, an Army Brat and overseas alumnus, won a silver medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta in the 400m individual medley. Her win occurred on July 20, l996, her 19th birthday. She was a National Champion in 2000 and 2004. In 1993, at the age of 16, she broke the world record in the backstroke. It was one of the longest held records in Women’s swimming.

In an interview on NBC TV, she attributed her swimming success to her U.S. Army brat lifestyle. With every move, she could always count on swimming to be the same. She lived twice overseas.

ALONZO BABERS

OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST, RUNNER

Alonzo Babers is a 1979 graduate of Kaisersalutern AHS, Kaisersalutern. He attended the Air Force Academy where he also played football.

Babers won gold medals in the 400M & 1600M Relays at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

ANN AND NANCY WILSON

MUSICIANS

In an interview on the TV Program “Live with Regis and Kathy Lee”, Ann and Nancy Wilson stated that they were Marine Corps Brats. In a previous interview they stated that they had lived in Panama during their father’s tour of duty there.

In 1976, the Rock stars debuted their first Heart Album. Later they formed an additional group, the Lovemongers. Nancy composed the award-winning score for “Jerry McGuire.”

ANN CURRY (1956- )

Ann Curry (born November 19, 1956) is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been a reporter for more than 30 years, focused on human suffering in war zones and natural disasters. Curry was born in Agaña, Guam, the daughter of Hiroe Nagase and Robert Paul “Bob” Curry.  Her parents met when her father, a career navy sailor, worked as a streetcar conductor during the United States occupation of Japan following the Second World War.  Although he was transferred out of Japan, he returned two years later to marry Nagase.  Curry lived in Japan for several years as a child, attended the Ernest J. King School on the United States Fleet Activities Sasebo naval base in Sasebo, Nagasaki.

ANNE McCAFFREY (1926-   )

AUTHOR 

Anne McCaffrey’s father was an Army Colonel.

Before concentrating on writing, she acted and directed. She is best known for her award-winning science fiction series “The Dragon Riders of Pern.”

ASHLEY WAGNER

OLYMPIC MEDALIST, FIGURE SKATER

Ashley Wagner is a 3-time U.S. Champion and Olympic team bronze metal figure skater. She was born in Heidelberg, Germany, while her father, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, was stationed there.

BARBARA BABCOCK

FILM & TELEVISION ACTRESS

Barbara Babcock is reportedly a Military Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus.  She attended Yoyogi Elementary School at Washington Heights in Japan from 1947 to 1949 as a 5th and 6th grader.

She is most noted for her acting in the television series “Hill Street Blues” and many films.

BARBARA LEE (1946- )

REPRESENTATIVE (D-CA)

Representative Lee is an Army Brat.

Congresswoman Lee was born in El Paso, Texas. She moved from Texas to California in 1960 with her military family parents, and attended high school at San Fernando High School, San Fernando, California. Lee’s father was a lieutenent colonel in the US Army.

BETH NIELSEN CHAPMAN

SINGER-SONGWRITER

Beth Nielsen Chapman is a two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee. In addition to writing and recording her own albums, she has written songs performed by musicians such as Faith Hill, Trish Yearwood, Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, and Alabama. Her music has also been featured in motion pictures and television. Beth’s father was a major in the Air Force, and she attended schools in Nürnberg and Munich.

BLAIR UNDERWOOD (1964-    )   

ACTOR

Blair Underwood, the son of an Army officer, was nominated for a Golden Globe in his role on LA Law. TV Guide named him one of “The Top Stars of the ’90’s.” He has appeared on Sex and the City, numerous movies and theater productions.

BOB BARR

CONGRESSMAN, MEMBER OF THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM GEORGIA

Congressman Robert “Bob” Barr is an Army Brat and an overseas brat, having graduated from the Community High School in Tehran, Iran in 1966.

 

BRUCE WILLIS (1955- )

ACTOR

Bruce Willis was born on the Army base in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, where his father was stationed.  The Willis family moved from there to the small town of Penns Grove, NJ when he was two. After graduating from high school there, he was a waiter and bartender until he was given roles in New York plays.

CAMERON NEELY (1965-   )

PRO HOCKEY PLAYER 

Cameron “ Cam ” Neely is a Canadian Air Force Brat.

He played for the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. He was one of four NHL players to record 50 goals in less than 50 games. In 2005 he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He has appeared in movies and is the Bruins Studio Analyst for NESN.

CAPTAIN VIVIAN S. CREA

US COAST GUARD

Captain Crea is a Military Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus.  She graduated from Seoul American High School in Seoul, Korea in 1968.

Captain Crea is currently a 2 star Rear Admiral,  First Coast Guard District and Commander, Maritime Defense Command One.

Captain Crea holds a number of “Firsts” for women in the United States Coast Guard. She is a USCG Commanding Officer, Leader, and Pilot. She is the first Admiral in the US Coast Guard.  Commissioned in 1973, Captain Crea was the first female aircraft commander in the Coast Guard, and the first female Commanding Officer of a Coast Guard Air Station. Captain Crea also served as Coast Guard Aide to the President under President Reagan, and Executive Assistant to the Commandant of the Coast Guard.

CARDINAL BERNARD LAW

ARCHBISHOP BOSTON

Cardinal Law was Army Air Corps and later Air Force Brat. Graduated from Charlotte Amalie HS, St. Thomas US Virgin Islands.

CATHERINE SCHELL

ACTRESS

Catherine Schell is a Hungarian-born actress best known for her roles in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The Return of the Pink Panther, Doctor Who, and Space: 1999. Her family immigrated to the US in 1950. Her father joined Radio Free Europe in 1957 and the family moved to Munich, where she attended Munich American High School from her sophomore year starting in 1959 (possibly as a freshman in 1958) through her senior year, graduating in 1962.
