Jacquline Kegeles Saint Anne is an Overseas School Alumnus.  She is a 1964 graduate of Paris High School.  Her most recent TV series credit was being set designer for “Quantum Leap.”



James Carroll is an Army Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus.  His father was an Army Lt. General. Carroll attended General HH Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany and was in the graduating class of 1960.

He’s an acclaimed author of several novels and one biography, ‘An American Requiem – God, My Father and the War that Came Between Us’.

JAMES TATE (1943-    ) 


James Tate’s father, a military pilot shot down over Germany, was the subject of his first book, “The Lost Pilot.”

He was the youngest poet to win Yale’s Young Poet’s Competition. In addition to winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1991, he has won the National Book Award. Currently, he teaches at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and is a Chancellor of the Academy of Poets.

JAMES WOODS (1947- )


Army Brat James Woods is the son of an intelligence officer. His father died when he was 12 years old.

He received a full scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of Technology but dropped out in his senior year to pursue his acting career.



Jasmina Perazic attended Frankfurt American High School. She went on to play basketball for her native Yugoslovia in the ’80 Olympics where they won Bronze, and again in the ’84 Olympics where they came in 6th. She was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, and is currently the Head Basketball Coach at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.



Novelist Jeanne Larsen is a Military Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus. She is a 1967 graduate of Frankfurt American High School.

Ms. Larsen’s books include  “The Silk Road”  and “The Bronze Mirror.”



Jeri Ryan is an Army Brat and Overseas School Alumnus.  Her father was an Army Master Sgt. She was born in Munich, Germany.  She grew up on Army bases in Hawaii, Kansas, Maryland, Georgia and Texas.  When she was 11, her father retired and moved to Paduch, Kentucky.

Ms. Ryan is best known for her role as 7 of 9 on the television series “Star Trek: Voyager.” Previously she was a series regular on NBC’s “Dark Skies.” She has appeared on other television series including: “Matlock”,  “Who’s the Boss”, “Murder, She Wrote”, “Reasonable Doubts” and “Diagnosis Murder.”

Jeri Ryan’s film credits include the independent films “The Last Man” and “Men Cry Bullets.”

JIM MARSHALL (1948-   )


Congressman Jim Marshall (D) represents the 8th District of Georgia. He was first elected in 2002. An Army Brat, Marshall is the son and grandson of Army Generals. He is a member of the Army Ranger Hall of Fame. His formative years were spent moving from one post to another.

JIM MORRISON (1942-1971)


Jim Morrison’s father was one of the youngest admirals in the U.S. Navy. In 1961, he graduated from George Washington HS in Alexandria , VA where he was an honor roll student. It is not known if he attended school overseas.

Morrison was the founder and lead singer of the popular group, The Doors.

JIM NELSON (1975-   )


Jim Nelson, Minnesota Vikings linebacker, is Air Force Brat. He attended 3 high schools in 4 years, including Lakenheath ( England ) High School. His father, Col. James Nelson, was a commander of the Office of Special Investigations which took the family to bases in England , Florida , Maryland and others.

JIM WEBB (1947- )

SENATOR (D-Virginia)

Senator James “Jim” Webb is an Air Force and Overseas Brat.

Webb’s father was a career Air Force officer who flew B-17s and B-29s during World War II and was later involved in the USAF missile program. His father is buried at Arlington National Cemetery .

While growing up Senator Webb attended more than a dozen schools across the United States and in England .

Webb graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1968 and served in Vietnam as a 1st lieutenant commanding an infantry platoon. While in Vietnam he was awarded the Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.

He left the Marine Corps in 1972. Graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1975. He was the Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Regan from 1987-88.

Senator Webb was elected to his first term in the US Senate in 2006.

JOE PITTS (1939- )


Representative Pitts is an Overseas Brat. Pitts was born in Kentucky in a family of strong Christian faith.. His father was an Army chaplain during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. After the war, the elder Pitts returned to the Philippines with his wife and children to serve as a missionary in a war-ravaged country. It was there, where he saw the after-affects of war, that Joe Pitts developed a heart for human rights and commitment to a strong defense. General Douglas MacArthur, a warrior who humbled an empire and taught it to be a democracy, was a childhood hero.

Representative Pitts also served for five and a half years in the USAF/SAC.

Secretary Reeder was a military and an Overseas School Alumnus.

He attended Frankfurt American High School 1963-64.  He was in the FAHS Class of 1966.

JOHN DENVER (1943-1997)

Real name: Henry John Deutschendorf

Born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. on December 31, 1943 in Roswell, N.M., John Denver was an Air Force Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus. His father was a US Air Force pilot.

John Denver attended Johnson High School in Japan in the late 50’s, but graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth Texas in 1961 while his father was stationed at Carswell AFB.

Many consider his 1969 composition “Leaving On A Jet Plane,” a number one hit as performed by the group Peter, Paul and Mary, to be the anthem for generations of military brats. Less than two years later, Denver was himself zooming up the Pop charts with “Take Me  Home, Country Roads,” “Rocky Mountain High,” “Sunshine On My Shoulders” and “Annie’s Song.”

Denver’s popularity could be seen in record sales that few other artists have achieved, including 14 gold albums and 8 platinum albums in the U.S. alone. This did not include his many gold and platinum sales overseas. In the terms of record sales, John Denver was one of the top five recording artists in the sales history of the music industry.

In 1992 Denver became the first Western musician to tour China. In recent years, Denver recorded less frequently and devoted most of his time to environmental causes. He found the non-profit environmental research and education center known as the Windstar Foundation in 1976. Additionally he contributed much time and effort to groups such as The World Wildlife Federation and Friends of the Earth.

During the1980s Denver took a leading role in the fight against world hunger after visiting Africa during the height of the famine in order to raise awareness of the issue.

In recent years, John Denver became an enthusiastic amateur pilot and proponent of space exploration.

Denver was killed at age 53, when on October 13, 1997, the light plane he was piloting crashed into Monterey Bay in California.


Gen. John N. Abrams is the son of Gen. Creighton Abrams, after whom the Abrams tank was named.  John attended school in Frankfurt, Germany, while his father was stationed in Frankfurt from 1959 until 1962.

JOHN S. MCCAIN, III (1936-  )


John McCain was born in Panama . Both his father and grandfather were Navy admirals. His father was commander of U.S. Naval Forces in the Pacific when the senator was shot down in Vietnam and became a POW (1967-1973).

In his biography, McCain, a self-described military brat, said that “the longest place he ever lived was at the prison camp in Hanoi .”

The decorated war hero retired from the Navy in 1981. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982.  In 1986, he was elected to the Senate after Arizona ’s Barry Goldwater retired. In 2000, 2004, & 2008, McCain ran in the Republican primaries for President.



Julia Campbell is an Army Brat and an Overseas Brat. She is the daughter of a US Army Officer as per PARADE MAGAZINE 3-5-95. She lived in Turkey during her junior high years.

Julianne Moore (born Julie Anne Smith) is the daughter of a career Army Lawyer/Judge and social worker wife. Born in Fort Bragg , NC , Moore moved around to dozens of military communities. She attended and graduated from Frankfurt High School with the class of 1979.

Moore ’s first significant role came as Annabelle Sciorra’s best friend in the thriller, “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.” Much more impressive was her revealing role as a spirited artist in Robert Altman’s “Short Cuts.”

She has been nominated for four Oscars: Supporting Actress in “Boogie Nights,” Best Actress in “End of the Affair,” Best Actress in “Far From Heaven” and Best Supporting Actress in “The Hours.”
