ERIC ZEIR

NFL QUARTERBACK

Eric Zeir attended Heidelberg High School in 1986-87. He played Quarterback for the University of Georgia and went on the play in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns.

Zeir is now a Vice President for the Banc Corp.

FAYE DUNAWAY (1940-  )

FILM ACTRESS

Faye Dunaway is an Overseas School Alumnus and an Army Brat her father was an Army NCO–this is confirmed by various biographies.

She reportedly attended Mannheim Junior High School in Germany for the 7th & 8th grades in 1953-55.

She attended and graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee Florida in 1958 and appears in the 1956, 1957 and 1958 yearbooks from that school.

GENERAL ANN DUNWOODY (RET.)

US ARMY

General Dunwoody was the first woman in the military to achieve a four-star rank, receiving her fourth star in 2008. The daughter of Brigadier General Harold H. Dunwoody, she graduated from SHAPE American High School in 1971.

GENERAL BENJAMIN O. DAVIS, JR. (RET.) (1912-2002)

US AIR FORCE

Born in Washington, D.C., Benjamin O. Davis Jr. was an army brat whose father set a challenging example for him. The elder Davis became a brigadier general in 1940, the U.S. Army’s first black general.

The younger Davis paralleled his father’s illustrious career. He graduated from West Point in 1936 and began his military career at Fort Benning in Georgia. In 1942, he joined the Army Air Corps and took command of the 99th Fighter Squadron, the famous Tuskegee Airmen, as a lieutenant colonel.

Davis, known for his dignified manner and eloquent speech, became the first black brigadier general in the history of the U.S. Air Force in 1954. In 1965, he rose to the rank of lieutenant general. Lt. General Davis retired in 1970, and in 1998 he was advanced to four-star General by President Bill Clinton.

GENERAL DONALD G. COOK (RET.)

US AIR FORCE

General Donald G. Cook graduated from Paris American High School in 1965.

He is a graduate of Michigan State University.  From 2001 to 2005 he was Commander, Air Education and Traing Command at Randolph AFB, TX.  General Cook retired on August 1, 2005, and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. of Ft. GENERAL DOUGLAS MacARTHUR (1880-1964)

GENERAL OF THE ARMY 

General Douglas MacArthur’s father, Arthur MacArthur, was also a distinguished Army general. The younger MacArthur, a graduate of TMI, The Episcopal School of Texas in San Antonio, TX, graduated first in his class at West Point in 1903.

He is best known for his service in the Philippines, both during World War I and World War II.

GENERAL NORMAN H. SCHWARZKOPF (RET.) (1934-2012)

US ARMY, COMMANDER IN CHIEF US CENTRAL COMMAND (CINCCENTCOM)

General Schwarzkopf  is an Army Brat and Overseas School Alumnus. He attended Frankfurt American High School from 1948-49. He then moved to Heidelberg American High School where as a junior in 1950-51 he played on the school’s championship football team.

He returned to the United States and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1952.

GENERAL VINCENT K. BROOKS (RET.)

US ARMY

Born in Anchorage in the Territory of Alaska in 1958, General Vincent K. Brooks grew up an Army brat in California and Virginia, the son of Major General Leo A. Brooks Sr. He was West Point’s first African-American Cadet Brigade Commander, the highest position a cadet can hold, and he graduated first in his class in 1980.

Among other notable command and staff positions, Brooks served as Deputy Director of Operations at United States Central Command (CENTCOM); Deputy Director for the War on Terrorism in The Joint Staff; Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific; and commanded United States Forces Korea, United Nations Command.

GLENN CLOSE

FILM & TELEVISION ACTRESS

Glenn Close is an Overseas School Alumnus. She lived with her father Dr William Close in Kinshasa Zaire for most of the 16 years he worked there.

Close has also stated that she hopes one day to film a movie about the Ebola epidemics in Zaire.

Glenn Close returned to the United States for high school and graduated in 1965 from Rosemary Hall, in Greenwich, Connecticut.

CHEF, RESTAURATEUR, & TV PERSONALITY

Navy brat Graham Elliot Bowles appeared on Top Chef Masters; was a judge on MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, and Family Food Fight; and has owned several restaurants.

GREG KINNEAR

FILM & TELEVSION ACTOR

Greg Kinnear is a Foreign Service Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus. His father was an American diplomat.

Kinnear attended elementary school in Beirut relocating to Athens, Greece where he graduated from the Athens Community School as part of the class of 1981.

He is best known for the television program “Talk Soup” and film roles in “Sabrina” and “As Good As It Gets.”

He mentioned his overseas education in a 1998 Parade Magazine and as a guest on the 12/08/98 broadcast of the “David Letterman Show.”

HARRIS FAULKNER (1965-)

Harris Kimberly Faulkner (born October 1965) is an American newscaster and television host for Fox News Channel. Faulkner is the anchor of Fox Report and a co-anchor on Outnumbered. Faulkner was born in October 1965 at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father, retired Lieutenant Colonel Bob Harris, a United States Army officer and Army Aviator, was stationed at the base and had served three tours in Vietnam. Faulkner lived in different places as a child, including Stuttgart, Germany.

Herb Hall is a Military Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus.  He was a member of the Frankfurt American High School Class of 1968.

He is best known for his work in the movies: “Top Gun” & “Clueless.”

Jacquline Kegeles Saint Anne is an Overseas School Alumnus.  She is a 1964 graduate of Paris High School.  Her most recent TV series credit was being set designer for “Quantum Leap.”

JAMES CARROLL

AUTHOR & BOSTON GLOBE COLUMNIST

James Carroll is an Army Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus.  His father was an Army Lt. General. Carroll attended General HH Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany and was in the graduating class of 1960.

He’s an acclaimed author of several novels and one biography, ‘An American Requiem – God, My Father and the War that Came Between Us’.

JAMES TATE (1943-    ) 

POET

James Tate’s father, a military pilot shot down over Germany, was the subject of his first book, “The Lost Pilot.”

He was the youngest poet to win Yale’s Young Poet’s Competition. In addition to winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1991, he has won the National Book Award. Currently, he teaches at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and is a Chancellor of the Academy of Poets.

JAMES WOODS (1947- )

ACTOR

Army Brat James Woods is the son of an intelligence officer. His father died when he was 12 years old.

He received a full scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of Technology but dropped out in his senior year to pursue his acting career.

JASMINA PERAZIC

2014 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

Jasmina Perazic attended Frankfurt American High School. She went on to play basketball for her native Yugoslovia in the ’80 Olympics where they won Bronze, and again in the ’84 Olympics where they came in 6th. She was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, and is currently the Head Basketball Coach at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

AUTHOR

Novelist Jeanne Larsen is a Military Brat and an Overseas School Alumnus. She is a 1967 graduate of Frankfurt American High School.

Ms. Larsen’s books include  “The Silk Road”  and “The Bronze Mirror.”

JERI RYAN

TELEVISON & FILM ACTRESS

Jeri Ryan is an Army Brat and Overseas School Alumnus.  Her father was an Army Master Sgt. She was born in Munich, Germany.  She grew up on Army bases in Hawaii, Kansas, Maryland, Georgia and Texas.  When she was 11, her father retired and moved to Paduch, Kentucky.

Ms. Ryan is best known for her role as 7 of 9 on the television series “Star Trek: Voyager.” Previously she was a series regular on NBC’s “Dark Skies.” She has appeared on other television series including: “Matlock”,  “Who’s the Boss”, “Murder, She Wrote”, “Reasonable Doubts” and “Diagnosis Murder.”

Jeri Ryan’s film credits include the independent films “The Last Man” and “Men Cry Bullets.”

JESSICA ALBA

TELEVISION STAR

Jessica Alba the star of the television series “Dark Angel” is a military brat. Born in Pomona, California in 1981, Alba grew up on Air Force Bases in Texas, Mississippi, and California. As reported in “People” magazine.
