Lee Long was born in Chapman, Kansas and graduated from High School, Kansas Wesleyan and Emporia State Universities. He taught Music for six years in Kansas, and was a school counselor for 2 years in Iowa. Lee and his wife, Linda, began their DoDDS relationship at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines from 1961-1963. Lee then moved to Yokohama, Japan where he taught music to all grades, directed musical productions, and won the Prefecture Music Contest with his high school choir. After four years in Japan, Lee began working as counselor at Giessen Junior High School in Germany from 1969 to 1989. Mr. Long was involved in Outdoor Education, teacher workshops, German-American friendships and Boy Scouting. He achieved the Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver. Upon retirement, Linda and Lee lived in Bentonville, AR where he taught music in his home and at the local community college.
