Originally from Shelbyville, Indiana, John Brokaw, Ph.D. began his teaching career in 1959 as a music teacher in Fowler, Indiana. He spent three years there before applying to the overseas dependent schools where he subsequently worked for 32 years. John served as a music teacher and later as an administrator in France, Turkey, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Germany. He concluded his overseas career as principal of Patch American H.S. in Stuttgart, Germany. John remained very active after his retirement, holding the following positions: President of the Indianapolis Computer Society, member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, head deacon of the Crestview Christian Church, and a member of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. He was involved in Brokaw Enterprises and served as a Northwest Radiology Network courier. John will be remembered for his dedication and service to others, his vitality, his sense of humor and his gregarious personality.
