Original Memorial Kiosk
In July 1996, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the school system with festivities in Washington, D.C. The American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS) held its first annual meeting at this time. Jean Derry gave treasurer Norma Drysdale a check for $100, saying it was for the first brick for the planned archive and museum complex. With the initiation of the Memorial Program to sell bricks and pavers for the walkways and patios in 1999, Jean’s donation bought the first brick.
