One of Bernadine’s favorite cities was Washington, D.C., where her first job was in the Library of Congress. After working and attending college at the same time, she returned to “Sweet Home Texas” for her BS and MA degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Her overseas career began in Korea as a Special Services director. She transferred to Okinawa as a school librarian and then became the director of the Pacific Region film center where she remained until she retired in the 1980s.
Bernadine returned to Texas to care for her father and succumbed to cancer in March 2004.
