Georgie Henrietta Richard

February 22, 1942 - July 3, 2005

Georgie was born and raised in Cajun Country, south Louisiana. Her home was in Houma, Louisiana, where she attended St. Francis de Sales School and graduated high school in 1960. She graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, where she received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education and a Masters Degree in Administration. She began her teaching at Evergreen Junior High School in Houma and joined DoDDS in 1970. Her first assignment was in Goose Bay, Labrador. When the base closed, Georgie went to Hahn AFB in Germany to teach Physical Education and Social Studies and coach gymnastics and volleyball. She later transferred to Patch HS, teaching Social Studies and coaching volleyball until her retirement in 2000.

Georgie returned to her hometown in Louisiana and became an active member of a local carnival club (Krewe of Aphrodite). Traveling was a great adventure and she enjoyed and experienced a variety of cultures. She was an avid reader and movie buff and her favorite entertainments were Disneyworld and Mardi Gras.

Georgie passed away on July 3, 2005, after a four-year courageous battle with cancer. Her zest for life was a lesson for all.
