NEWS ANCHOR
Elizabeth Vargas, whose father was an Army officer, graduated from Heidelberg High School in 1980.
In December 2005, she was named a co-anchor for ABC World News tonight. Following the wounding of her co-anchor, Bob Woodruff, she resigned to concentrate on her young family. She continued as an anchor for 20/20. Previously she was a substitute anchor on Good Morning American and other ABC news programs and specials. She won an Emmy in 2000 for her coverage of the Elian Gonzales case.
