Chaffee, White, Grissom Memorial School History

Chaffee/White/Grissom Memorial School was a K–8 school located in Antigua, which is part of the West Indies. The elementary school, located on a U.S. Air Force base, was a one-story converted barracks. The facilities included three classrooms, a library, teachers’ lounge, and an office. There was a playground across the street from the school, with an air base athletic field beyond the playground. For the 1981-82 school year, the staff consisted of a principal-teacher, one full-time teacher, and two part-time aides. For the 1987-88 school year, there were 28 students with a teacher/principal and two full-time teachers. The school opened in 1966 and was closed in 1988.
