Coevorden American Elementary School was located in the city of Coevorden, Netherlands, six kilometers from the German border in the northeast province of Drenthe. The school was in the center of the city and occupied a 1985 addition of four classrooms to Parkschool, a Dutch elementary school which shared it gymnasium, library, and art room with the Americans. The staff consisted of a principal, secretary, three classroom teachers, and one host nation teacher. The kindergarten/first grade teacher also taught a half-day preschool handicapped class, and the host nation teacher was also the library clerk.
