Comiso ES/HS (formerly Comiso ES) History

Comiso Elementary School was a newly established school for the 1986-87 school year. The school was located at Comiso Air Station on the southeastern part of the island of Sicily.

The school was housed in a porta-cabin area of the base during construction of the six-million-dollar facility. During the construction year, the school enrollment was anticipated to be about 200 students. The school had grades kindergarten through eight and high school students attended Torrejon High School at Torrejon Air Base in Madrid, Spain.

For the 1989-90 school year there were 400 students in grades kindergarten through twelve. The facility had twenty-three general classrooms, gymnasium, multipurpose room, computer lab, library, business lab, art room, industrial arts facility, music room and preschool/kindergarten complex.

The school closed in 1991.
