Aviano Elementary School #2 was located at Aviano Air Base at the foot of the Dolomite Mountains in Aviano, Italy. Venice is about fifty miles from the base. The original structure was an adequate masonry structure.
For the 1981-82 school year, the school had students in grades kindergarten through three. There were eighty-three kindergarteners, eighty-one first graders, eighty-seven second graders and seventy-two third graders. The staff that year consisted of twelve classroom teachers as well as a learning disabilities teacher, a half-time reading improvement specialist, a learning resource center specialist, a music teacher and a speech teacher.
The two Aviano elementary schools were combined for the 1987-88 school year.
