Périgueux American Elementary School supported the dependents of the Quartermaster Depot whose purpose was to maintain and store materials used by the U.S. Army in Europe. The school was located in a small building near the Officers’ Club on the post. For the 1954-55 school year there were forty-two students registered in grades K–8, and the principal was Verda V. Johnson.
