La Rochelle American Elementary School was located in La Rochelle, a city on the west coast of France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay. The military facilities were once used as the headquarters of Napoleon Bonaparte. Originally, the school had students through the eighth grade, but when the high school was built it became a kindergarten through six school.

The principal for the 1954-55 school year was Robert Campbell and there were 245 students in the school.
