Wunstorf ES History

Opened: 1957(?)
Closed: 1971(?)

Wunstorf Elementary School was located on a small NATO Air Force Base in northern Germany near the city of Hannover. The base was a very small German–American radar site. All Americans stationed at the facility lived on one street and the house at the end of the street was the “school house.” There were two teachers at the school. In 1967, one teacher was married and had a house on the street. The single teacher, Cynthia Brown, had to find a room to rent. There were two classrooms: one downstairs and the other upstairs. The downstairs classroom had grades one through four and the upstairs classroom had grades five through eight.
