Chiemsee Dependent School History

Opened: 1950
Closed: 1951

Chiemsee Dependent School was briefly located in the Chiemsee Recreation Center. Chiemsee was a leave and rest center operated by the Army in early 1951. It was used as a stopping point for military dependents that were evacuated from Trieste, Italy. Due to the large number of school age children on Chiemsee Rest Center, it was determined that a local school was needed. Dorothy Saftley was the teacher/principal. The school was open for the 1950-51 school year.
