Halvorsen-Tunner ES/MS History

For the 1994-95 school year, the elementary school and middle school were combined and were now known as Halvorsen-Tunner Elementary/Middle School. The school staff consisted of three administrators, forty-eight classroom teachers, twenty specialists, three host nation teachers, six paraprofessionals, and six office/supply personnel. Special education programs included mildly learning impaired, both resource and self-contained; developmental preschool; and severely/multiple handicapped classes.
Ms. Ophelia Phillips, principal, and Tim Erickson, assistant principal, were the administrative team for the 1998-99 school year. The enrollment steadily decreased from 1998-99 until the school closed in 2005. There were about 425 students for the 1998-99 school year and less than 330 for the 2003-04 school year.
The school was closed in 2005 when Rhein Main Air Base was closed.
