Nellingen American Elementary School was located in the small town of Nellingen, which is only four miles from the city limits of Stuttgart. The school was on the Nellingen Caserne.

The elementary school consisted of a main building containing seventeen classrooms, a gymnasium, and a learning media center. The building was constructed in 1953 and was of masonry construction. The kindergarten was housed in an annex a mile from the main school but still on the military post.

For the 1981-82 school year, there were twenty-one teachers for grades kindergarten through six, with an enrollment of 405 pupils.

A new wing to the school was opened in September 1984.

The school was closed in 1992.
