Landstuhl Elementary Middle School was originally Landstuhl American School. It is currently Landstuhl Elementary School. The school was in Landstuhl were a major American hospital, Landstuhl Medical Center, was located. The city of Landstuhl was eleven kilometers west of Kaiserslautern.

The school mascot is the Lion, and the school colors are orange and navy blue.

In the early eighties, the complex had eleven classrooms in the main building, which was a permanent, school-type construction. In addition, there were eleven classrooms in a converted barracks, six prefabricated buildings, and three more classrooms in Air Force relocatable buildings. A new building was planned for the 1982-83 school year to replace the classrooms in the barracks, prefabs, and relocatables.

During the 1981-82 school year, there were twenty-two classroom teachers for grades one through six and three sections of kindergarten. Other staff members included a counselor, reading improvement specialist, learning development specialists, physical education specialist, and a librarian. Team teaching and cross grouping for the core subjects was widely used in grades two through six. There were 620 students enrolled.

By the 1987-88 school year, Landstuhl American School was renamed Landstuhl American Elementary School. The school now had grades kindergarten through eighth grade with 850 students enrolled. The main building had twenty-eight classrooms, and there were eight classrooms in prefabricated buildings. The school staff consisted of twenty-one classroom teachers plus four kindergarten sections. In addition to the specialists listed for the 1981-82 school year, the school now had specialists for music and art.

By the mid-nineties, the enrollment for Landstuhl school had seventeen classrooms in prefabricated buildings. There were forty-one classroom teachers on the staff plus teachers for four kindergarten sections. Additional prefab buildings were added as necessary. For the 19994-95 school year, there were 940 students in grades kindergarten through eight.

Currently, Landstuhl Elementary School is a PSCD, K–5 school. Several renovations had been done to the original building. The last renovation was done in 2008. Construction of a new 21st Century school was scheduled for 2022.

In 2020, Landstuhl Elementary School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. The school has a strong focus on shared leadership and embodies the spirit of “One Team One Dream”. As a result, the school has performed in the top five percent of all DoDEA schools.

For the 2022-23 school year there were 357 students enrolled and the principal was Kenneth Bassett.
