Kaufbeuren Family Dependent School was located on Kaufbeuren Air Base, one of the original United States Air Force Bases located in the American Occupation Zone in 1947. The base was located within the town limits of Kempten and Mendelheim. In 1954, the Kaufbeuren School and Kempten Dependent School had the same principal, Harriett M. Delano. There were sixty students in grades kindergarten through eight.
The school closed in 1960 when the mission for the base was changed.
