Itazuke HS History

Itazuke High School was located on Itazuke Air Base in Fukuoka. It served students from Fukuoka City and Camp Hakata. Prior to 1962-63 school year, the high school was part of Itazuke Dependents School. The high school had thirty-five seniors for the 1962-63 school year and had grades seven through twelve.

The yearbook retained the name, Bamboo; but the school newspaper was changed to the Torii. The school colors were blue and white, and the mascot was the Cobra.

In 1964 the school enrollment began to decrease. For the 1966-67 school year extracurricular activities include Future Teachers of America, Future Homemakers of America, the Lettermen’s Club, Glee Club and the Color Guard.

The school was closed in 1972.
