M & K Primary School, which opened in 1955, was located on Kadena Air Base and only had grades one and two when it opened. Originally, this school was the office building of Morrison and Knutson, building contractors for Kadena Air Field. In 1959, M & K was still in temporary facilities.

By the 1978-79 school year, there were approximately 800 students in grades kindergarten through four with a staff of fifty-four. The principal was Wayne Johnson, and the assistant principal was Francis Colby.

The school had English as a Second Language classes as well as learning development classes. Students took first aid as an extracurricular class.

The school was closed in 1980.
