A school for kindergarten students was opened at Camp Boone in 1968 because of Department of Defense Instruction 1342-8, which established kindergartens as part of Department of Defense Overseas Dependents Education Program which was operated with appropriated funds. Boone was one of four schools on Okinawa to have kindergartens. The school was closed after school year 1973-74.
