The ODDSARA V

The first reunions of overseas educators were known as ODDSARA (Overseas DOD Schools Annual Reunion Association). They began in 1989, thus the meeting in Flagstaff in 1993 was the fifth of the series. In 1994 at the reunion in Las Vegas, the name was changed to DoDDS reunions.

The reunion at Flagstaff was hosted by Dr. Tom Drysdale. Special guests included Dr. Eugene Hughes, then president of Northern Arizona University (NAU) where the archives were originally stored, and Dr. John Stremple, then Director of DoDDS in Alexandria, VA. Approximately 300 educators attended this reunion including Gay Long, one of the 120 original teachers to go abroad to open the dependent schools in 1946.
